The Cost of Memory
Failure happens and I’ve failed at everything one time or another.
In my art I have never done anything I’d considered a failure. It’s experimentation, trial, error, until I complete my vision. Until now. The vision was and is beautiful. I verified the technical aspects would get me exactly what I envisioned. I set off, step by painstaking step. Over forty hours into the piece, on the last bit of the process, I failed. I got the science wrong and what was still beautiful in my head had failed. Utterly failed, there was no fixing it. I was extremely frustrated but ok to put it all down and move forward, start fresh.
New music, new inspiration. I moved more organically since I could see my new process was working. What happened was a completely different kind of piece. More sculptural and wholly unique in my body of work.
